Nordic Swan Ecolabel sign for two Holiday Inn hotels in November

Holiday Inn Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and Holiday Inn Helsinki West – Ruoholahti hotels were awarded the Swan Seal in November. Thus, four of our Holiday Inn hotels in Finland already have the prestigious Nordic environmental label.

“Our hotel team’s high degree of commitment to environmental work is reflected in the application process for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Also IHG’s Green Engage program has already taught our staff to follow the development of energy use, and with IHG’s Green Stay program, our guests have also been able to take part of the sustainable tourism in a tangible way”, says General Manager Hanna Niitynperä about the experiences of the Holiday Inn Helsinki-Vantaa Airport hotel.

Nordic Swan Ecolabel sign complements IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow program

In Finland, the Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo and Crowne Plaza hotels of the InterContinental Hotels Group hotel family are operated by Scandic Hotels Oy. Scandic has chosen the Nordic Swan Ecolabel as its environmental label, because its stricter criteria than other certifications challenge a holistic approach in environmental work. The Swan label requires that, among other things, the hotel offers vegetarian dishes and organic products, prefers eco-labeled products and services, keeps energy and water consumption low, and sorts and reduces the amount of waste. IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow program and systems support Scandic’s goals and the stricter criteria of the Swan Label.
